Academic Eligibility

Regardless of how talented a young athlete is, academics remain at the heart of any journey to the NCAA.  Before a Division I or II college can offer a potential student-athlete a scholarship, the student must be certified as eligible by the NCAA's Eligibility Center.  To be certified, there are a number of criteria that need to be met including:

  • Completion of sixteen core courses from years 9-12 as mandated by the NCAA;
  • A minimum GPA standard;
  • A minimum SAT standard.

We offer a number of services to potential student-athletes and their families to ensure that your academic eligibility remains on-target and that you hit every gateway along the journey to the NCAA.

ACADEMIC PATHWAY PLANNING

Preparing to play sport at NCAA level is a four year journey starting in grade 9 so why not let us help you get onto the right track right from the beginning with a personalised NCAA eligibility pathway plan that includes:

  • The minimum academic standards that will be required for NCAA eligibility and how that translates to results in your particular state;
  • An academic pathway specific to your state that ensures you will be on track to meet the NCAA eligibility standards;
  • Verification that the subjects you are enrolled in and intend to enrol in have been cross-checked with both your state qualifications body and the NCAA and found to be suitable for NCAA requirements;
  • Estimation of your projected GPA based on previous results and a pathway to ensure your GPA is maximised;
  • A four-year calendar highlighting key academic dates and recruiting schedules for your specific sport.

You have to be organised from very early in high school so take the first step and contact us using the form below.  Together, we can make sure that you have a clear roadmap for where you're headed.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  This particular package will give you a pathway for academic eligibility but does not offer any recruiting activities.  The academic pathway plan package is an ideal starting point for a potential student-athlete to lay the groundwork for their journey, whether they will be undertaking recruiting activities themselves or engaging our services further.

senior ACADEMIC prepARATION

You're motoring through year 11 so now it's time to start preparing for a busy year or so ahead.  There will be a lot happening between now and the end of year 12 and we can help you with it.  You don't need to have been part of our program up to this point - maybe you've been doing this by yourself up until now but you've decided to get assistance for this final important stage.

Your senior academic prep program includes:

  • Full calendar of upcoming milestones;
  • Assistance with all NCAA Eligibility Center requirements;
  • Liaison with your school to ensure they are aware of your pathway and the associated requirements for the NCAA with regards to transcript provision etc.;
  • Gateway check between years 11 and 12 to ensure your 16 core subject requirement will be met;
  • Access to practice SAT prior to your sitting;
  • Calculation of estimated projected GPA to determine your estimated required SAT score*;
  • Monitoring for the release of SAT dates at authorised SAT Centres in Australia and notification to you.  Your first SAT will be done during year 11;
  • Assistance with completion of your Amateurism Declaration in year 12;
  • Assistance with the associated university application process.

*The NCAA uses a sliding scale to determine the requisite SAT score - the lower your GPA, the higher your required SAT.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  This particular package is an academic service only and suitable for those student-athletes and their families who have been conducting their own sport-specific recruiting activities.  This service will ensure that you meet all academic eligibility criteria but does not include marketing you as an athlete to prospective universities.

MONITORED SERVICE

A lot can change in four years, such as the NCAA's introduction of minimum GPA standards in 2016 for example.  We are in regular contact with the NCAA as well as all Australian secondary school regulators so when something changes that will impact you, we know about it straight away.  Our monitored service ensures that we remain on the journey with you for the full four years, which not only enables you to have access to the latest changes from the NCAA, but also an interpretation of how those changes affect you.

The ongoing monitored service provides the following:

  • Immediate notification of any change in NCAA policy and how it affects you or your child;
  • Continual crosschecks of your academic pathway against NCAA requirements;
  • Rolling estimation of your projected GPA as assessments are completed to ensure that you remain on track;
  • Checks with the NCAA Eligibility Center to ensure that our estimated GPA projections appear correct;
  • Monitoring and notification of any changes to minimum athletic metrics;
  • Monitoring and notification of any changes to key drills desired by scouts;
  • Notification of dates for upcoming key milestones  (eg. transcript uploads, SAT sittings, recruiting calendars etc.);
  • Program staff available to you for unlimited direct enquiries if required.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  This particular package is suitable for those student-athletes and their families who will be conducting their own sport-specific recruiting activities.  This service will ensure that you are on track to meet all academic eligibility criteria and you will have access to relevant athletic metrics but it does not include marketing you as an athlete to prospective universities.
